Online poker gaming is exploding - get some action yourself !

July 08th, 2009 | Category: online poker gaming, online poker tips, poker online

Online poker gaming is not the same as brick & mortar casino poker. While the rules are generally the same, the way the games are played are very different. The primary reason for this is that there is a complete lack of visual tells online. This means that online players must bet to gain information about their hand, whereas the same information is available to casino players from visual clues. This means that in online poker there are different ways needed to gain information about your competitors which in turn leads to probe raises. The end result is that there is generally more action online than you will find in a brick and mortar casino. I’m not saying one is better than the other, or necessarily more or less profitable. They are just different in fundamental ways. Many of the abilities needed to win in casino poker of course also exist in online poker. You still shouldn’t play at a level you can’t afford, and so on.

It’s also a lot faster, as there’s no banter around the table. For casino players, this interplay is a central element of the game, whereas for some this could  be  a disadvantage because these people know all about body language. Some of us can’t keep a poker face so sitting behind a VDU can be a real advantage!

Poker online is also a great way to sharpen your poker skills in a less expensive way right from home, without having to head to some land based card room or casino far away. Almost every online poker room gives you the choice to download the software for free and to play using “play money,” which is a great way to get comfortable with the game before playing with real cash. So poker online is much more comfortable and profitable for some.

Online poker gaming is a not only a lot of fun, it can teach you the strategies you will need one day to make profit playing poker for real money. So if you’re a beginner looking for free play money poker sites we strongly recommend you wait before utilizing any of the no deposit bonuses you can get until you have developed some skills - because it would be a shame to waste any free poker money, wouldn’t it?.

Unlike at a bricks and mortar casino, online you can play at more than one table at a time. Some enthusiasts log into more than one poker site at a time which can  mean you don’t have to be as good a player to make the same amount of money.

In some ways, online poker gaming is preferred by many as they have full 24/7 action available to them and a opportunity to develop skills in texas holdem or other games before playing with big money stakes.

The Poker Diaries

September 11th, 2009 | Category: online poker gaming

An intro to my attempt at a video blog or diary. I will be filming my progress from time to time and give you some resources that I have found that help my poker game.

In this video I talk about two poker sites, http://www.pokerstars.net and http://www.fulltiltpoker.com. I also talk about some other resources that I will list at the bottom of this description. I am still wet behind the ears in Texas Hold’em and especially in online poker playing cash games.

Cash games is the same as a ring game; you can use real cash or the play money that the poker sites give you. In order to fund your cash games you will have an easier time doing the e-check process where you will need your banks routing number and your checking account number. The funds are in your account immediately and I started with $25 because I knew I wouldn’t miss it.

Sit & Go’s are mini tournaments and the buy-ins are extremely low. You can buy into a SnG for as little as $1 with a $0.10 fee. Before you start throwing away your money as I did when I lost about $10 in cash games and SnG games, take full advantage of the play money. You definitely need to build up your bankroll and improve your game a lot before you start playing for cash.

There are a ton of websites out there that will provide you with tutorials, articles, strategies, videos, etc. Here are just a small list of the ones I’ve been checking out.

Bluefirepoker challenges US Government to a $1,000,000 Poker Match

September 08th, 2009 | Category: online poker gaming

BluefirePoker.com will put up $1,000,000 against $1 for a chance to play with either President Obama or any member of the U.S. Congress. The legislative debate centers on whether or not Poker is a game of chance or skill, and this debate determines the legality of online gambling, according to legal and legislative experts on the subject. No one in their right mind would turn down this challenge if Poker were a game based on luck, because the odds are so far in their favor putting up $1 for a chance to win $1,000,000 for the charity of their choice.

Poker after dark s05e48 1/4 Phil muth bash cash game.

September 07th, 2009 | Category: online poker gaming

Phil muth bash cash game.
Over the next two weeks, muths doubters and supporters will have a chance to watch the Poker Brat in action as he plays $200-$400 against five opponents on NBCs Poker After Dark. The minimum buy-in for the show is $100,000.

The two-week series, entitled The muth Bash, will also feature Tom Dwan, Kenny Tran, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, and amateur Bob Safai.

This is the first time in Poker After Darks history that a cash game will be featured over two weeks time. The popular daily show also announced that it would have the players redraw their seats midway through the session so that viewers could see the players adjust to different positions.

Dwan, more commonly known as durrrr online, is a cash game specialist. He completes at the highest levels online, but has shown his ability to transition to live games. In his first World Series in 2008, he made two final tables.

Laak and Esfandiari, often paired up together in TV cash games, are known for their back-and-forth banter and endless prop bets. The two regularly play the high-level cash games.

Tran, the winner of the 2008 heads-up bracelet at the WSOP, isnt modest when it comes to his abilities. Dubbed Sick Call, he isnt afraid to let his instincts take over a game.

Finally, Safai will round out this group of six. Considered an amateur poker player, he has played his fair share of high stakes. He has previously appeared on High Stakes Poker on Game Show Network.
